Festival of Cairns Opening Parade

Saturday 21 August brought perfect weather for  Festival of Cairns 2010 which exploded onto the streets of the city with the Festival Parade's colourful collection of floats and people dancing, singing and cheering their way along the Esplanade.  Local Lions Clubs decided to enter the event and what a time we had! With Trinity Beach Lions Club's BBQ trailer decorated in true carnival fashion and the towing vehicle dressed up like a lion the profile of Lions was difficult to miss as we roared along the Esplanade.

Two members both wearing Lion costumes, brought smiles and laughter to the hundreds of children and many more adults lining the route. It seemed everyone wanted to either 'high five' them or take their photo. I'm not sure who enjoyed the evening more - the Lions or the children!

CCIA BIKE RIDE

On Saturday 31 July the CCIA bikeriding team rolled into town after a long fund raising ride from Townsville.

The combinded Lions Clubs of Cairns are proud to not only be sponsors but were happy to feed the hungry mob on their arrival.
